Toronto is known for a few things, like the CN tower and it’s booming real estate market. But now it can also claim it’s one of the top ten more liveable cities in the world!
The Economist Intelligence Unit released their 2018 ranking of the most liveable cities in the world. Canada had three cities land spots in the top ten. After seven years, Melbourne was finally toppled by Vienna as the most liveable city in the whole world.
Toronto tied with Tokyo for seventh place. It wasn’t the only Canadian city to land on the list though. Calgary came in at number four and Vancouver just above Toronto at number six.
The EIU ranked cities based on a number of factors, such as the environment, healthcare, and stability. They were then awarded a score out of 100. Toronto managed to score a 97.2%. Vancouver was awarded 97.3% and Calgary 97.5%.
People may be surprised to not see some of the larger cities on the list like London or New York. The EIU said that these cities suffer from their own success. A larger population, expensive real estate, and intense traffic were a few reasons these cities didn’t land spots.
