Moving can be incredibly stressful. It’s a process that is physically, emotionally, and mentally draining. But moving into a new home is something to celebrate. Don’t let the stress of moving take that away. Follow these five tips to make moving into your new home a little bit easier!
Plan Ahead of Time
Between finalizing the deal and moving, most people have about 4-8 weeks to get ready. That’s plenty of time if you don’t leave things to the last minute. Feeling rushed is one of the biggest causes of stress during a move! So start making a checklist of everything that needs to be done ahead of time.
Moving is a great excuse to finally go through all of your belongs and purge old or unwanted items. Donate old clothing, give away unwanted furniture, and toss any broken items. The less you have to move the easier it will be!
Pack in Advance
Leaving all of the packing to the last minute will stress out anyone. Make sure you buy all the packing materials, such as tape and boxes, ahead of time. Pack away things you won’t need so that you only have to pack away essential items like clothing and dishes at the end.
Use Professional Movers
Even though the help of family and friends is great, professional movers take all of the stress off of you. They’re quick and efficient at moving. They’ll do all of the heavy lifting and the chances of items getting broken go down.
Pack an Essentials Bag
Packing a bag of essential items will keep you from packing last minute or digging through boxes the moment you arrive at your new place. Include a change of clothes, necessarily toiletries, any chargers and electronics, and snacks!
